Companion Animal Rescue and Adoption Volunteer

Description

Do you have room in your heart and your home to care for an animal on a temporary basis and assist in finding it a home as good as your own?  Volunteer to be a foster parent to a rescued dog or cat (or other domestic animals).

  • Provide daily care and interaction with the animal
  • Assist in the behavioral evaluation of the animal to ensure the best possible fit with the final home.
  • Transport the animal to any necessary medical appointments
  • Assist in obedience training, where necessary
  • Assist in the identification and evaluation of placement homes

OHS provides covers the costs associated with primary needs and services required for the care and best possible chance of placement for the animal.

Program Volunteer Requirements

  • All volunteers must be current members of OHS.
  • Foster homes are subject to home visits to ensure proper containment and facilities for the animal
  • Acceptance into the foster home system is subject to the approval of the OHS Board of Directors and may be terminated at any time

Volunteer Application Process

  1. Meet with the program Director, or designate, to discuss interest, requirements, and responsibilities
  2. Fill out and submit a Membership/Volunteer Application Form
  3. Fill out and submit a Foster Home application/agreement
  4. Meet with the program Director, or designate, for an in home evaluation
  5. Acceptance into the program
